It also logs the paths it looks for profiles to help us debug if there are still issues.

I unzipped them all and placed them in my Program Files/keypass folder.
I executed the ClockWork.KeePass.Firefox.Converter and created an XML file. When I open KeePass and click to File/Import From there is no XML option available. Also Firefox does not appear in this list. When I go to Tools/Plugins, I see that the XML Importer is disabled, but there doesn't seem to be any way to enable it.
Can someone help me? I like the idea of KeePass keeping all my passwords under lock and key instead of letting Firefox hang onto them for everyone to see, but I'm no IT specialist and I spend hours and hours trying to figure out some of the simplest stuff.
Any help is appreciated. Thnx.

This is not a plugin if your using 1.x. Its a program that creates a Firefox based password file that KeePass can import.

It would be possible to reverse the process and read a KeePass xml file to update the Firefox profile file. I have the technology, however it would take a bit of work, so I would need some persuading ;-)

2008 Oct 27, 08:39PMMe said...oh, you should'nt do this for me alone...perhaps you know a good place to start a poll, who would like a keepass->firefox converter?
The advantage seems clear: FF has only poor support for managing passwords. i.e. it not possible to organise them, set a expire Date or to create ramdom passwords.
Keepass can do this.
Unfortunately Keepas's autofill-in does only work with IE, therefore it's kind of circumstantial to use the logins from keepas via copy&paste.
2008 Oct 29, 06:50PMTony said...Someone,

2008 Oct 29, 07:07PMTony said...Me,
One issue I see with KP to FF is that KP does not have the information about field names that FF needs to insert passwords into the websites.
I've now completely switched off FF's password manager!
I mainly use KPs global auto-type feature (normally Ctrl-Alt-A) to insert passwords into FF. Adding instructions to the passwords Notes can help it along. e.g.
Auto-Type: {USERNAME}{TAB}{PASSWORD}{ENTER}
Auto-Type-Window: *Google*
I've also changed a few options:
Minimise to tray
Close button minimises
Start on Startup
Remember last open file
Automatically open last
Start Minimised
Auto save on exit/locking
Limit to single instance
Global Auto-Type is Ctrl-Alt-P
This way it auto starts and I just have to Ctrl-Alt-P to insert passwords, then close KP for the next time
2008 Oct 30, 07:33AMMe said...yes, you are right, Tony. It would be neccessary to create the first pw-entry with FF before emporting it to Keepass and lateron back to FF.
I suppose technically it won't be a problem as the information about field names is already stored in the comment field in KP.
I'll give your workaround a try, thanks so far!

I started by running clockwork and creating an XML file with my password. This worked fine.
I open up a newly created kdbx file and go to File>Import look for Firefox... and it's not there. I try using "Keypass XML (2.x)", point it to the file, click ok, then a popup titled Import Behavior comes up, I select "Create New ID's", and then nothing. Nothing inside my database.
I try playing with the options, using other XML imports to no avail.
So I download the Justin Scott Password exporter to see if that works.
Created the new XML with the Firefox plugin and open my kdbx file. File>Import, select "Password Exporter (1.05)", I get the Import Behavior again, and again nothing inside my database.
I have no idea whats wrong...

It sounds like you haven't installed the provided Gecko folder into the KeePass folder

1. Installation
2. XML Import plugin
3. Importing to KeePass 1.x
Several people here have said this was fixed by "creating a new database first". What does this mean exactly and how do you do it? I thought it might have to do with the password file ("KP-IN.XML"), so I ran through the "Importing to KeePass 1.x" instructions again, however, the same issue persists.
Thanks!
